Women Are Credited Less in Science Than Men

Dr. Marie Klawe, president of Harvey Mudd College, spoke at the White House Summit on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) Equity and Excellence on December 12, 2022. The Summit brought together leaders in STEMM fields with the intent to build a more “equitable and excellent STEMM ecosystem.” Klawe shared updates about Harvey Mudd’s STEMM inclusivity for both women and people of color, specifically in the computer science department, where the percentage of women in the major has increased from 10 percent to 50 percent since Klawe became the school’s first female president in 2006.
