Lost Women of Science wins International Women’s Podcast Award 2025

London, June 17, 2025 – At the International Women’s Podcast Awards 2025, Lost Women of Science won an award for The Devil in the Details: The Doctor Who Said No to Thalidomide about Frances Oldham Kelsey.

The season’s third episode, Medical Sleuthing Identifies the Dangers of Thalidomide, won in the category of ‘Moment of Factual Clarity.’ The episode explains the science behind Kelsey’s refusal to approve thalidomide for sale in the US - a moment of factual clarity that saved the lives of thousands of babies.

We were also honored that Lost Women of Science Conversations: The Exceptions was shortlisted in the ‘Insight from a Role Model’ category.
In this episode molecular biologist Nancy Hopkins speaks movingly about how she came to realize that female scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were routinely discriminated against.
